An Indian analytics resume converted to European conventions, with the personal details that are standard here and a liability there removed entirely.

The content of this resume was already strong. What made it fail abroad was formatting that is completely normal in India and reads as a problem in Europe.

A photograph, date of birth, marital status, father's name, passport number and a declaration line were all removed. Most European employers strip these before review to protect themselves under anti-discrimination law, and some applicant systems reject files containing them outright.

We then made the qualifications legible to a reader who does not know the Indian system. A two-year M.Sc. is stated as such, grades are given with their scale, and the language certificate is named with its awarding body and level, because that is the line a German hiring manager looks for first.

What actually changed

    Personal details removed

    Photograph, date of birth, marital status, father's name, nationality and passport number were deleted. None of them belong on a European application and several invite legal exposure for the employer.

    The language certificate was made specific

    'German: intermediate' became Goethe-Zertifikat B2 with the year. Self-declared language levels carry no weight; a named certificate at a stated CEFR level does.

    Qualifications made readable abroad

    Degree duration and grading scale are stated, so a reader unfamiliar with Indian education can place an M.Sc. and a CGPA without guessing.

    Dates made unambiguous

    Numeric formats like 03/2023 read differently on either side of the Atlantic. Every date now uses a written month.

    Salary and notice period removed

    Current salary, expected salary and notice period are commonly stated on Indian resumes. In this market they weaken a negotiating position before it starts.

  6. 06

    Work authorisation addressed plainly

    One line states visa status honestly rather than leaving a recruiter to assume the worst and skip the file. Honesty here shortens the process.

Presenting skills

Four groups, with spoken languages given a group of their own. For applications to Germany that is not a soft skill, it is a screening criterion, and burying it in a list of tools loses the application.

Presenting projects

No projects section. Three years of production analytics work is stronger evidence, and European resumes at this level are expected to be concise.

ATS-conscious structure

Tool names are written as the vendors write them, including 'Microsoft Power BI' on first use. European job boards frequently match on the full product string rather than the short form.

Visual design

A tinted header band and otherwise plain body. The document is designed to survive being converted to plain text by a recruitment system without losing its section structure.
